Instead of me writing about myself I thought I would ask one of the top wedding photographers in the Country to write about me. Here is what Sharon Malone had to say:-

Open Leaf Weddings with David Pearce at the helm is, like David himself, refreshingly innovative with a modern approach to a traditional subject.  A “people” person, David has tried to think outside of the box in order to create a wedding photography service which is not only second to none but also as enjoyable on the day to him as your photographer as it is to you as his client. 

This may seem a strange statement to make but in the bigger picture (please forgive the pun!) it isn’t.  One of the aspects of wedding photography which ensures pictures full of emotion, expression, a day which is fun rather than full of the “chore” of having your formal photographs taken is the rapport between the photographer and the people he is photographing.  In short, if there is no “click” there then it will be reflected in the photographs – and the day may seem rather long winded! 

David has the ability to transpose himself from the “cheeky chappie” showman everyone loves to have around and who is for a few minutes the main entertainment as he goes about his task of creating your requested formal pictures to the quiet, thoughtful guest who blends in seamlessly whilst he carefully documents your day – recording the precious little moments that in some instances you didn’t know had happened or that anyone had seen.  This is a skill that is very rare in a photographer and it cannot be taught. 

David is a natural, thoughtful person who through his people watching skills is able to watch and predict events as they unfold.  A look through his website galleries shows you picture after picture full of expression – it might be the surprise of the bride as she opens the car door and he’s there before her, the concentration of a couple who have practised time and again their first dance or a quiet moment of pure love between the bride and groom as they embrace for perhaps the first time they have been alone since they got married – each and every picture on his website is full of different expressions, each of which tells it’s own story or chapter of a bigger story.  This is story telling at its best – it really doesn’t get better than this. 

As one would expect, David’s albums are far more than a collection of snapshots detailing your day – they are stories without words.  I thought about this in relation to his business name – Open Leaf Weddings and although I know where his name came from and the inspiration behind it he really could not have picked a more fitting name for his business as each part of your wedding day is to David an Open Leaf of a book waiting to be filled with your story waiting to be told.  You can plan your wedding and set the scene but like the notes on a sheet of music it will be David who turns the memory of your day into a pictorial symphony.   

Whilst David is often recommended by and to be found working in some of the top UK wedding venues, as you would expect for someone so creative, he has in his portfolio something to cater for every occasion and budget.  The one thing you can’t buy from David however but which does come for free is the passion with which he sets about the task of taking care of tomorrow’s memories today.  That - above all else - is his gift to you.
